U16 Boys Football County Cup

Trinity's U16 Boys football team beat Southwell Minster School to win the County Cup on June the 5th.

It is a fantastic end to what has been a brilliant five years of football for the team here at Trinity. We are very proud of their dedication, work ethic, team ethos, and now their silverware. Well done!

The Route to the Final

After another excellent season within the city and making the second knock-out stages of the National Cup, the Trinity U16 Boys qualified for the final of the County Cup to be held at The Poplars Sports Ground, Burton Joyce.

The team were looking to go one further than their previous efforts, after reaching the final to finish runner-up at U13 level. The teams’ excellent performances in the competition saw them hold off considerable competition to record victories over Ashfield, West Bridgford, Rushcliffe and Carlton-le-willows to reach the final.

The Final

A closely contested first half against Southwell Minster saw Trinity head into half-time with a 1-0 lead. Southwell Minster worked themselves back into the game, dominating the second half and later equalising from a corner to level at 1-1 with 15 minutes left to play.

Trinity continued to ride their luck with our keeper forced into making numerous last-ditch saves to keep us in the match. With less than two minutes left to play, a Trinity counter attack stunned Southwell as one of our players was able to delightfully turn away from his marker to slot the ball home and secure the last minute victory for his team.
