England Football Wembley Trip
On Saturday 8th September, 44 pupils visited Wembley Stadium, the home of English football, to watch the England Football Team versus Spain in the first of the UEFA League fixtures.
The match was the Three Lions’ first return home after their successful 2018 FIFA World Cup. The pupils were very excited to recognise the national team’s recent achievements and show their support for the next generation of England football stars.
A Fantastic Day Out
The atmosphere around the stadium was electric and the 82,000 supporters erupted as Marcus Rashford put England 1-0 up inside 10 minutes. Unfortunately, Spain equalised minutes later and then began to gain a foothold in the game with Iago providing Spain with a slender 2-1 lead. A dramatic end to the match saw Danny Welbeck’s goal ruled out.
It was a fantastic day out and, despite the 1.30am return time, pupils maintained their high standards of behaviour until the very end. Thank you to all of the staff who gave up their Saturday to allow the trip to take place.
