Medieval Surgery Talk
As the end of term approached, the Year 9 pupils were taken outside for a display of medieval surgery by Mr Howell, with the able help of Mr Adams and Ms Rhodes.
They examined the causes of disease, how to test for illness, amputations, dentistry, cures for chlorosis and the importance of blood letting. They learnt about the Newark doctor John of Aderne and his contributions to surgery, and the ideas of Gilbertus Anglicus in preparation for starting their History GCSE.
Mr Howell would like to thank all his patients for their enthusiasm in their roles and the Year 9 pupils for their interest and attention.
