Pupil Premium

DfE PUPIL PREMIUM

The Government gives the Pupil Premium to schools in addition to mainstream funding as the method by which the underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals and other children may be best addressed. Funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. Those in receipt of the Pupil Premium must be in school years 7-11 and will fall in to one of these categories;

  • The pupil is eligible for Free School Meals.
  • The pupil has been eligible for Free School Meals at some point in the last 6 years.
  • The pupil is a child of parent(s) in the Armed Forces.
  • The pupil has been adopted from the care of the local authority.

At Trinity we use these funds, supplemented by additional school budget to enable disadvantaged pupils to overcome barriers to learning. There is a comprehensive list of expenditure and the evaluated impact of these expences attached to this article.

We seek to allow every child to achieve their potential and assess each one on an individual basis. On many occasions children have had 'bespoke' support due to unique needs.

At Trinity, we are proud that the achievements and progress of children eligible for Pupil Premium are greater on average that of similar children nationally. Furthermore, the divide that is evident between the Pupil Premium pupils cohort and the non-Pupil Premium cohort is not as great as on average nationally and closing. We strive, and always have,  to ensure that this gap is eradicated entirely as per the national education agenda. Pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium at Trinity, on average, perform better than all pupils nationally on average in almost all key attainment and progress indicators.

If you would like more information about the Pupil Premium please email or contact the school and ask to speak to Mr S Manderson
