Drama and Performance Studies
House Drama Competition
The House Drama Competition took place in the Drama Studio at lunchtime on the 20th of June.
Each of the Houses created a 10 to 15 minute piece of drama and, this year, pupils from Years 7 to 10 took on directing duties. They had to stage manage their production and arrange rehearsal times, costumes, make-up and technical support, including lighting and backdrops if necessary.
After many weeks of hard work, the pupils performed the finished pieces to their peers and teachers. It was a fantastic effort by all who took part, showing their enthusiasm and commitment to their Houses and to the Drama Department.
The overall winners were:
- Campion - trio performance
- Arrowsmith - musical number from Hairspray
- Barlow - duologue written by a Year 8 pupil
The category winners were:
- Best Overall Production – Campion
- Best Direction - Arrowsmith
- Best KS3 Actor - Barlow
- Best Costume - Campion
We were delighted to have our Year 12 Drama and Theatre Interns and two of our former students, who are currently studying at University, return to judge. Thank you to them and to Mr Gillett and Miss Sapiano for supporting this event.
