Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Duke of Edinburgh's Award License Presentation

On the 19th of June, Mr Miller and Mrs Latimer-Newnham attended a presentation for new DofE Directly Licensed Centres.

The event was hosted by The DofE Central England Regional Director, Phil Brown. Phil has worked for DofE for 25 years and won a Silver medal in the 1984 Olympic 4x400m relay in LA, along with teammates Kriss Akabusi, Todd Bennett and Garry Cook. The Trinity School became a Directly Licensed Centre on the 1st of February.

Leaving Your Comfort Zone

Around thirty schools and organisations from around Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire attended the event. We heard about the journeys of three Gold Award recipients and how it has helped them get to where they are today. All of them said it took them out of their comfort zone and gave them confidence. All of them still help out in the community and try to better themselves physically, or through a skill.

It was wonderful to hear the benefit the DofE scheme has had on individuals and how it has made them grow and succeed personally and professionally.

Get Involved

If you are a Trinity pupil and want to do your DofE, applications are taken in the October of Year 10 for Direct Silver, after an assembly to the year group. For those who have completed their Silver Award, Gold applications are taken in the first half of Year 12.

We have a growing number of teachers helping out with the award.
